Week 13: NFL Schedule and Picks

National Football League Predictions

Nov 24, 2008 Nick Meyer

Week 13 in the NFL will be a big one as playoff races tighten up and teams make their final statements heading down the stretch.

Here are my picks for week 13 of the NFL schedule:

National Football League Predictions

Picks will be straight up, not against the spread.

NFL Thanksgiving Games

Tennessee at Detroit-

The Lions don't have much of a chance here because Tennessee can run the ball at will against them. The Lions would need the crowd to be loud and borderline abusive to have any shot at winning this Thanksgiving traditional game but the Lions fans have been subdued and miserable for about the last six weeks.

Tennessee will win this one easily.

Seattle at Dallas-

For all the fuss over Detroit's game being potentially boring, here we have a matchup arguably just as bad. The Seahawks don't play so good on the road and Dallas is rolling toward a playoff spot. Week 13 should be an easy win for the Cowboys.

Arizona at Philadelphia-

The surprising Cardinals take on the Eagles in a pivotal week 13 matchup. Donovan McNabb will be coming off his benching but can he be effective? How will the Philadelphia fans react?

Pick the Eagles in this one due to Arizona's long trip.

Sunday Week 13 NFL Picks

San Francisco at Buffalo-

Mike Singletary might be a great coach someday but for now he is in over his head with a bad team and an offensive coordinator in Mike Martz with a big ego. SF is playing out the string.

Pick Buffalo.

Baltimore at Cincinnati-

Expect the Ravens to squeeze the life out of the Bengals in week 13 on the way to another playoff berth. The win last week against Philadelphia was impressive.

Indianapolis at Cleveland-

Bad conditions possible and Indianapolis doesn't usually play well in outdoor games. But Cleveland's QB situation is unsettled. Colts win.

Carolina at Green Bay-

A high-scoring affair on the horizon in week 13 of NFL action. The Packers should win this one aided by the crowd and weather.

Miami at St. Louis-

The Rams are bad, like as bad as everyone though Miami was going to be at the start of the season, only worse. The Dolphins win this one.

New Orleans at Tampa Bay-

New Orleans is too far down in the NFC South based on their talent level. But if they get Reggie Bush back as expected, they can also expect a win here in week 13.

NY Giants at Washington-

A hobbled Clinton Portis still reeled off 100+ yards last week but against the Giants' d-line it will be even tougher. NYG wins.

Atlanta at San Diego-

The Chargers showed up against Indianapolis but couldn't finish. Their old backup RB Michael Turner gets a shot at them now but LT will steal the show in this one, making SD the pick in a close game for week 13.

Pittsburgh at New England-

Matt Cassell looks great going into the playoffs and the Steelers are good but vulnerable because of their major weakness on the o-line. Pick NE in this one.

Denver at NY Jets-

New York is playing inspired football and gave Tennessee their first loss in week 12, but Jay Cutler comes in and outduels Brett Favre in this one for the DEN win.

Kansas City at Oakland-

A dog of a game in week 13. Pick the Chiefs in this one due to their more dynamic offensive schemes.

Chicago at Minnesota-

Who knows much about the Bears? Minnesota is at least a bit more consistent. But both teams are to figure. Take the Vikings with the tiebreaker being the home field.

Jacksonville at Houston-

The Texans play well at home and the Jaguars are reeling. But Sage Rosenfels doesn't inspire much confidence so it's hard to pick the Texans in week 13. Go with the Jaguars.
