Week 13 NFL Power Rankings, Who's #1?

Team by team football ranks

Nov 26, 2008 Nick Meyer

Power rankings don't mean a whole lot at the start of the year. But with the playoffs approaching, they now start to mean something.

Week 13 is a chance for the Titans to get an easy win and for the Cowboys to get back in the mix for a good playoff spot with Thanksgiving games against easy opponents.

Here are the rankings:

Week 13 NFL Power Rankings: Historically Bad Teams

32. Detroit Lions-

Beating Tennessee would literally be a miracle. Daunte Culpepper is predictably not in sync with his wide receivers right now and 0-16 looks more and more likely.

31. Kansas City Chiefs-

The net point difference is three less than Cincinnati, sometimes it's the small things that separate teams that are this bad.

30. Cincinnati Bengals-

No Carson Palmer means no chance.

29. St. Louis Rams-

A whopping 197-point differential on the year beats the Lions by more than 40 points. Ouch.

Week 13 NFL Power Rankings: Just plain bad

28. Oakland Raiders-

McFadden had a breakout game but Al Davis has made some curious decisions in recent years leading fans to wonder if things will ever be good again under him.

27. San Francisco 49ers-

Mike Martz experiment is basically a failed one.

26. Seattle Seahawks-

Tough for year Holmgren, an underrated coach.

Week 13 NFL Power Rankings: Mediocrity Ahoy!

25. Houston Texans-

Steve Slaton was a good find this year.

24. Cleveland Browns-

Brady Quinn is not the savior after all, at least not yet.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars-

Things have gone south in a hurry for Jack Del Rio's team.

22. San Diego Chargers-

Colts loss a crippling blow.

Week 13 NFL Power Rankings: The Average

21. Philadelphia Eagles-

McNabb benching could be season's death knell.

20. Green Bay Packers-

Aaron Rodgers still a solid QB considering it's his first year.

19. Miami Dolphins-

Exceeding expectations but not quite there yet.

18. Chicago Bears-

First place in an awfully poor NFC North.

17. Minnesota Vikings-

Got talent, where's the coaching and QB play?

16. Buffalo Bills-

Lee Evans sure is fun to watch.

15. Denver Broncos-

Improving but still vulnerable on defense.

14. Washington Redskins-

Average team without Portis and not much better with him.

Week 13 NFL Power Rankings: Contenders?

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-

With Jeff Garcia at QB they'll get a playoff spot but probably won't go too far.

12. Atlanta Falcons-

Building a great foundation for the future.

11. New Orleans Saints-

Fun to watch but can they win shootouts in the playoffs?

10. Arizona Cardinals-

Kurt Warner for MVP!? Maybe not but he's had a great year.

9. Dallas Cowboys-

Could climb fast with Romo back.

8. Baltimore Ravens-

Ed Reed is a phenomenal player, period.

7. Indianapolis Colts-

A bit shakier than they appear at first sight...but still a contender with Manning at the helm.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers-

Offensive line is uncharacteristically shaky....

5. New England Patriots-

Trade Tom Brady! Okay that's a bad idea but Cassel is catching fire.

4. Carolina Panthers-

DeAngelo Williams is a home run threat.

3. New York Jets-

Favre could lead them to division title.

2. Tennessee Titans-

Easy win vs. Lions this week.

1. New York Giants-

A complete and superior team in an NFL that is full of parity. Back-to-back seems like a good possibility at this point.
