A bye week can help a team recoup if they're doing badly, or give time for player injuries to heal, but this bye week may have been the reason for the Broncos loss.

The Denver Broncos started the 2009-2010 season extremely strong. They won the first 6 games, defeating the Cincinnati Bengels, Cleaveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, ew England Patriots and San Diego Chargers. After playing the Chargers the Broncos had their bye week before playing the Baltimore Ravens.

Benefits of a Bye Week

There are several benefits to a bye week. Injured players have a chance to recuperate. The team as a whole is able to regroup, especially if the last game was a difficult one. If a team is having a poor season, then it gives the team extra practice time to try to improve their strategy and playing. Many teams come back from a bye week stronger than before.

Loss of Momentum

The sixth game of the season against the Chargers was a very strong game for the Broncos. The Broncos won 34-23. They were on a winning streak and playing extremely strong. After destroying the Chargers came their bye week. Their momentum was going so strong that the bye week actually hurt the Broncos. Their winning streak was cut-off by the bye week.

Loss to the Ravens

The Broncos winning streak was ended by the Baltimore Ravens. This made their record for the season so far 6-1. This leaves only two undefeated teams in the league- the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. In the first 6 games the Broncos defense never allowed more than 10 points scored in the 2nd half. They had the number 1 defense in the National Football League. However, the Ravens scored 24 points against the Broncos in the second half. The Broncos only scored one touchdown, which was in the third quarter. The final score was 30-7, a devastating score to the Broncos. Some fans admit that they were bound to lose a game this season, but most believe they will pull it back together and gain that momentum back. Broncos fans believe that the Ravens wanted the win more than the Broncos did.

The Future for the BroncosThe Broncos next game is against the Pittsburg Steelers, another formidable opponent. This game takes place in Denver on 11/09/09. Then the Broncos play the Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Kansas City Chiefs again. The game against the Colts might be the most difficult of the season, as the Colts are the only undefeated team in their conference.
