The Beatles are a tough band to make a top ten songs list for since everyone has their own personal favorite songs by the supergroup.

In the process of making this list, many favorite songs were unfortunately cut out and many tough decisions had to be made.

But these are the songs that stand out above the rest in a field of amazingly unique and well-constructed songs by one of, if not the most popular rock band of all-time.

Top Ten Songs by The Beatles

These are the most ear-catching, riveting, and/or powerful Beatles songs in the British supergroup's all-time catalog:

10. I Wanna Hold Your Hand

The ultimate example of the captivating-yet-somewhat-simple hooks The Beatles were so great at writing. This seems like an obvious name for an obvious song that just about any rock group could do but no one could pull it off with the kind of enthusiasm and energy that The Beatles did in this classic pop-rock anthem.

It's the kind of song that can make you smile and recall a time of innocent love growing up with ease.

9. Day Tripper

This is a song that just grabs you right from the beginning and doesn't let go. The hook comes in with a good amount of surprise and then the listener catches on to the pattern and it's impossible not to sing along. The bass line in this song is incredibly addictive to listen to and the production is top-notch.

8. While My Guitar Gently Weeps

The first heartfelt, soft-spoken Beatles ballad on here. This band could do them with ease and cranked out many top ballads and this is one of the best, bringing the romance back into an instrument that has proven to be extremely versatile and personifying it as a something that can feel and transfer human sadness.

7. In My Life

A song heard throughout supermarkets and drugstores in America daily yet for good reason because it never seems to get old. The Beatles hit another home run with this powerful love ballad and it will be a classic for years to come. But it doesn't quite have the power of some other Beatles ballad songs.

6. Come Together

Abbey Road is a spectacular Beatles album with many possible top ten Beatles songs, and Come Together is one of the best ones on the whole album.

This is one of The Beatles' heavier songs but it still maintains the catchy pop-rock feel that made them so popular. They just get to rock out a little more on this song.

5. Octopus' Garden

One of many Beatles songs that features off-the-wall lyrics, this one is the most memorable with its awesome imagery and feeling of sanctity provided by the song title's haven described in the song.

4. Strawberry Fields

One of the many Beatles songs with drug references hidden amongst a cheery song, but this one is so sublime and beautiful that people can interpret it whatever way they feel like. One of the most relaxing Beatles songs in the top ten for sure.

3. Happiness is a Warm Gun

Speaking of drug references, this one has one of the most obvious drug references in the Beatles' collection of songs and yet it still is catchy. This song is pure emotion and adrenaline.

2. Hey Jude

One of those songs where all it takes is one person to start singing it and soon the whole room (or bar, party bus, dorm room, and so on) will be singing along like they mean it in no time. A universal ballad with tons of power.

1. Let it Be

The ultimate Beatles ballad, this song echoes with peaceful sounds and transports the listener to a time and place that is simpler and far more gentle. Many of the Beatles' ballads and later songs by Paul McCartney and John Lennon are similar to this one but Let it Be will always maintain its place as one of the best and most famous.

Top Ten Beatles Songs Final Thoughts

Top ten lists are hard to make for any band, but for one as popular, talented, and with as much longevity as The Beatles had, it's even more difficult. Agreement can be hard to come by for a list like this but one thing's for sure: for a song to make any Beatles top ten list, it must be a terrific one.

Sorry..but the all time BEST Beatles song is "SOMETHING". Even the legend Frank Sinatra said so.

I love the Beatles, this had to be hard to put together. This is an awesome top ten list, you should post this to my buddy's site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and you can link back to your site. They are looking for content and in return provide a user base that can track back to your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.

I'm going to argue that "If I needed someone" should be on this list. Its not the most famous song, but it is probably the most influencial. George's use of 12 string singlehandedly triggered the folk rock genre, inspiring the Byrds, the flying Burrito Brothers, cat stevens . . . all the way to Wilco, Ryan Adams and modern alt country.

Let the flame wars begin! ;)

This is a pretty good top 10. They are all some of the best Beatles songs but i sort of disagree with a few. I thought I'd make my top 10 and post it.

10. If I Fell
9. Hey Jude
8. Here Comes The Sun
7. Happiness Is A Warm Gun
6. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
5. Something
4. In My Life
3. Across The Universe
2. Strawberry Fields Forever
1. Real Love

Real Love was a song recorded by John Lennon that the other three Beatles reworked in 1995. It was released as a single in 1996 and on The Beatles' Anthology 2 album. Not everyone knows about this song but it is definitely my favorite Beatles song. It really gets me.

I'm sure people will disagree with my top 10. These are my favorite songs by them. Everyone has their own.
