This year has seen the Dolphins go 11-5 from last year’s 1-15, superstar Tom Brady out for the season in the first game and the Cardinals make the playoffs for the first time since 1976.

2008 NFL Season

It’s been a great season of NFL football once again with great teams falling from power and the rising of the underdogs. The San Diego Chargers who were to be an offensive nightmare for defenses, were 4-8 by week 12 yet still won the AFC wildcard playoff game. Peyton Manning wins the league MVP and gets knocked out of the playoffs by San Diego. The only 10-11 score in league history is the prelude for the defeat handed to San Diego by Pittsburgh.

The Rookies of the NFL in 2008

Young promising talent has been fun to watch this season as well. First time starter Jamarcus Russell signed a six-year $61 million contract to win games and lead an abysmal team out of their funk; a 5-11 regular season record isn’t what Oakland paid for. Kevin Smith and Darren McFadden failed to produce in their first NFL seasons while others such as Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco were enormous successes for their teams.

2008 NFL Veterans

Brett Favre, will he play? Will he put on the suit and tie and join the commentator ranks? What team will he play for if he plays? The answers to those questions boiled down to a Favre wearing a Jets jersey and starting off the season with some wins and showing us his love for the game wouldn’t bow to age. But loving to play the greatest game couldn’t keep him going throughout the season and couldn’t bring success to the Jets ’08 season.

Kurt Warner, Super Bowl XXXIV MVP and League MVP in the same year, has had a spectacular career. But many thought the 37 year old quarterback might be on his way out this season. With a season passer rating of 96.9, a completion percentage of 67.1 and a career high of 4,583 yards; Kurt Warner is leading his team to the NFC Division Championship game and smashing all doubts about his ability to still play in the NFL.

Division Championship Games

The big game is just around the corner, but first we’ll see if Philadelphia’s veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb will be ready to face Kurt Warner and secure a Super Bowl appearance against either the Ravens or the Steelers. The Eagles have had no less a bumpy road this season than the Cardinals and both teams are capable of both winning big and losing big.

The AFC title game has the two best defenses in the league with the 11-5 Ravens and the 12-4 Steelers. Joe Flacco has been sensational and his cool head will serve him well when facing Big Ben and his fourth quarter performance. These two teams are going to have a true smash mouth football game January 18th.

Super Bowl XLIII

The AFC has two hard hitting tough defensive teams with steady quarterbacks and great regular season records. The NFC has two veteran quarterbacks with outstanding successes and losses this season with high power, high scoring offenses with big play-makers. This is a recipe for a great Super Bowl. In the end, the Steelers will take the title of World Champions against the Arizona Cardinals.
