Pac-Man Jones Has Run Out of Chances

Jones Once Again Embarrasses the NFL

Adam "Pac-man" Jones has proven once again that he has been given one too many chances to resurrect his career.

This is a new NFL. An NFL where you no longer have an unlimited amount of chances to clean up your act. The Raiders of the 70s or the Cowboy's of the 90s or even the Bengals of recent years can no longer be tolerated. Tank Johnson, Chris Henry and Brandon Marshall take note of that.

When Roger Goodell took over as commissioner of the league, he took over a heap of problems. He had one of the league's most marketable stars facing felony charges for violence against animals. He had a handful of players spend their summers behind bars for violent crimes, many times women being the victims.

Then the death of the young Bronco's corner-back Darrent Williams happened. A young talented defender that was gunned down in his prime. Jaguars guard Richard Collier was also shot outside of a nightclub. Luckily he survived but these to instances prove that nothing good ever happens in a club after midnight.

Their is a violent subculture in the NFL that has worsened throughout the last couple years. A subculture that Goodell has inherited and tried to be as fair as he could be while cleaning house.

He did a good job of that. He suspended Michael Vick indefinitely, gave Pac-man a year, Tank Johnson and Chris Henry each got 8 games. Strike Two. Pac-man looks like the first player with a third strike.

Jerry Jones was the only owner crazy enough to take a flier on Jones.

And Pac-man played him for a fool. Was the talent worth it?

Jones is a player persistently in trouble. A player with more arrests then career interceptions. He has given chance after chance after chance. A talent yes, but a talent that has proven himself to be an immature, angry young man.

Now we aren't breaking any new ground with saying Jones is trouble. He has been trouble for quite sometime, but the real story here is Goodell. Goodell has a chance to really send a message to the rest of the league. Goodell came down hard on Pac-man the first time, but now he must deliver the knockout punch. This time has to be final.

He sent a strong message to the league by suspending all these guys, but it obviously didn't resonate. This has to be the final blow.

Goodell must make Jones the example, because if players keep committing these heinous public crimes it will hit the NFL right were they are most vulnerable: the wallet.
