The Brett Favre experiment blew up on the Jets. What is next for New York's "other" team?

The Jets have a healthy assortment of needs going into the 2009 NFL Draft despite their solid 2008 season. Brett Favre left a problem at the QB spot as Kellen Clemens might not be ready yet.

A young QB would be a wise idea to draft this year but other needs are just as important. Here are the positions the Jets should look to fill in the upcoming 2009 NFL Draft this year.

The Jets need a big push from this draft because if they don't cement themselves as a contender soon they might fall back to the pack in the AFC.

Cornerback- Derrelle Revis has been pretty good so far as a former first round pick but another starter is needed opposite him to lock down the pass defense. Macolm Jenkins of Ohio State might be worth a bit of a gamble with the 17th pick considering he is a proven performer who can be had at a premium potentially, because of his sub-par 40 time the 4.5 range. Jenkins makes up for that lack of speed with great instincts, quickness, and ball skills.

Offensive line- Alan Faneca is getting up there in age and so is Damien Woody, so the Jets need to start planning ahead. They could use some more athleticism on the line to give them more versatility in their running game.

Running Back- A young potential star in the 2nd or 3rd round might be a good pick for the Jets because Thomas Jones is aging and Leon Washington is a more of a third-down back. Solid running back depth can be found in the draft this year for the most part.

Quarterback- Mark Sanchez might be a good choice at #17 because he has a very high upside and might need a year of seasoning. He's worth the gamble. Clemens has shown some potential in the past but he might not be the answer so it's wise to start planning ahead this season in the 2009 NFL Draft.

The Jets need to make some moves this year because Tom Brady is coming back for New England and Terrell Owens, while combustible, could provide a short-term boost to the Buffalo Bills. Miami is also a much better team so the AFC East will be tough in 2009.

Inside linebacker- The Jets have tried a lot of guys at this spot and found a gem with David Harris out of Michigan from a couple years ago in the second round, but another linebacker is needed to go with him who can cover the pass and maybe rush the passer too.
