The 2009 NFL season serves as the 50th anniversary of the AFL, which was originally a separate league from the NFL, but the two merged in 1970. To celebrate 50 years of play, the eight teams that made up the original AFL will be sporting the jerseys worn by the original teams of their franchises for select games.
