Michael Vick Believes He's Worth $10 MillionFormer NFL Quarterback Vick Highly Values His SkillsDisgraced former NFL quarterback and one time multi-millionaire Michael Vick believes he'll be making big money once he's re-instated into the league.
Michael Vick was going to be the ultimate game changer the NFL had ever seen but after being convicted for his part in a dogfighting ring his life took a dramatic twist. Now that he’s being released from prison he has to deal with all the financial burdens that go with filing for bankruptcy. You would think that trying to repay millions of dollars in debt would be a hard thing to do, especially in today’s economy, but Vick has a plan in place that will shore up his finances. He plans on signing an NFL contract that will pay him enough money and then some to pay off all of his debts. Doesn’t get any easier than that, right? Michael Vick Was Once The Highest Paid PlayerPlaying football was the only career choice Vick ever had and as he was ripping it up in college at Virginia Tech, in preparations for the NFL, his life was set. After being drafted first overall in the 2001 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons and eventually signing the most lucrative contract in NFL history, a 10-year, $130 million deal, you’d think money would never have been a problem. But Vick never fully lived up to the hype that surrounded him and not being able to play football and cash in on that contract after going to jail put some financial strain on him. But don’t worry about Vick. He’s got everything covered. In an article that ran in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Vick filed bankruptcy papers that claim he’ll be cashing in on some big time NFL money once again. How much does Vick, who hasn’t played football in years, think he’ll be making once NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell re-instates him? Oh, just, you know, $10 million per season. Somewhere Dr. Evil is shushing someone. But Vick truly believes he’s worth that much. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Vick plans to make: “as much as $10 million a year or more, according to court filings in his bankruptcy case. Under the plan he submitted to the court, Vick would keep the first $750,000 of his annual income over the next five years. After that, a percentage would go to his creditors based on a sliding scale.” Does Vick Deserve To Be Paid As A Top Quarterback? There’s no way any team would pay Vick $10 million per season seeing as how not even guys like Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning or Philip Rivers made that much in base salary during the 2008 season. Vick might still be clinging to the notion that he used to be the big man on campus back in the day because to think that he’s still worth $10 million per season is only something a delusional man would believe. And don’t forget that Roger Goodell has been very strict in regards to letting players with criminal convictions play as evidenced by his past suspensions of Adam “Pacman” Jones and Tank Johnson. So, even if Vick is eventually re-instated, which isn’t a guarantee, what team would want to take a risk on him? Unless he’s willing to face reality and play for the league minimum, Vick might be looking at an even longer than anticipated lay-off from football.
