The Oakland Raiders start anew, from the coach to the QB, JaMarcus Russell while the Denver Broncos add beef and toughness to their defense.

Denver Broncos

The Broncos came into the 2007 NFL Draft with only four opportunities to improve their squad. In an attempt to rectify the mistake of acquiring the Cleveland defensive line, Denver loaded up on defensive linemen. Jarvis Moss brings that intense Simeon Rice type pressure from the edge that Denver has been missing for years, his only possible problem will be if his frame can hold up when teams run at him, and in this division (LT and Larry Johnson) will surely test the rookie. Tim Crowder will also get on the field (not as much as Jarvis) he is very strong against the run his problem will be when he is forced to rush the passer, that’s when his slow burst will show.

Ryan Harris has the measurements, but must crack down on his technique to prevent reaching for his blocks. Marcus Thomas comes into a position where a change is needed for the Broncos; if Marcus can stay focused he should see a lot of playing time this year.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders had a lot of picks that is a good thing because they have a lot of holes to fill. Out of their eleven picks, it seems that only two players figure to get released. Johnathan Holland and Jay Richardson are the unlucky guys on this list both men were drafted at deep and talented positions. The first impact player the Raiders drafted will break into the league around week eight (giving the o-line time to gel). JaMarcus Russell was/is the only franchise quarterback in this year's draft. His calm demeanor and rocket arm will turn the passing game around. Zach Miller will provide JaMarcus with a young security blanket at tight end. Defensive end Quentin Moses is player that may see time, (not as a starter) but will fair well as a situational pass rusher.

Any offensive linemen in Raider camp will get a long look, so Mario Henderson with the help of a productive preseason should contend to be in the tackle rotation. Johnnie Lee Higgins is that speed receiver that every team needs; it’s up to Lane Kiffin to see if he can get him on the field. Michael Bush would be wise to sit out this year and come back at 100% next season. There are quite a few quality defensive backs in Oakland, so John Bowie and Eric Frampton had better impress over the summer. Oren O’Neal is a guard in a fullback’s body; he should make the team for his blocking ability alone.
