The Dallas Cowboys have always been a premier team in the National Football League. In 2009, they started the season on Sept. 13 with a victory.

The Dallas Cowboys have high hopes for the 2009 NFL season. with a Week 1 victory in Tampa Bay over the Buccaneers, they have a sturdy schedule ahead. Although they are minus their ex-star receiver Terrell Owens, who is now with Buffalo, the Dallas Cowboys 2009 season should be intense, as they have many offensive and defensive difference-makers. Following is the team's schedule, along with notable games.

The First Five games of the Cowboys 2009 Schedule

Although the Cowboys won at Tampa Bay, they will have a tough second game on September 20 at home, in their new stadium, against the New York Giants. The Giants game will be a major test early in the season for the Cowboys, as they face off against an NFC East rival. On the Monday night of September 28, they host the Carolina Panthers, who lost at home in a blowout to the Eagles in Week 1. Next, on October 4, the squad heads to Denver, for a matchup against the Broncos, who had a marvelous last second victory over the Bengals in the first week. On October 11, the Cowboys will head to Kansas City to play the Chiefs.

The Next Three Games of the Dallas Cowboys 2009 Season

Wade Phillips' team will rest on Week 6, but on October 25, they will host the Atlanta Falcons, who had a convincing victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. They will host a dangerous Seattle Seahawks team on the first day of November, and on November 8, the Cowboys will head to Philadelphia to face the Eagles, who dismantled the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. The Philadelphia Eagles, who won significantly despite a second half injury to quarterback Donovan on Sunday, are another NFC East rival. The Eagles will likely be a dominant team in the NFC in 2009.

Weeks 10-13 of the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys

On November 15, the Cowboys head up to Wisconsin to face the Green Bay Packers, who were victorious over the Chicago Bears in Week 1. The next week, on November 22, the Washington Redskins will come to town. The Redskins appear strong, despite a heartbreaking loss at the Giants Stadium to the New York Giants in the first week of the season. The Cowboys then host the Oakland Raiders on Thanksgiving on November 26, before they travel to the Meadowlands to play against the New York Giants a second time on December 6.

The Final Four Season Games

Dallas will host the San Diego Chargers on December 13, and then to the Superdome to play the New Orleans Saints on December 19. On Sunday, December 27, the Cowboys will travel to FedEx Field to fight the Washington Redskins at night. This will likely be a key game, with playoff and playoff standings implications for both teams. The following week, on January 3, the Cowboys complete their season at home, where they will host the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Cowboys will certainly have a tough season this year, as the NFC East appears to be a dominant division. Although the entire Dallas Cowboys 2009 season will be challenging, their are several notable games, such as next week's rivalry event. The Week 2 game where they host the Giants will serve as the first major, inter-divisional test, and it will be the first NFL season game at the brand new Cowboys Stadium.
