The halfway point of the NFL season is only a week away as teams begin jockeying for position down the stretch run

Titans Move to 7-0 While Lions and Bengals Still Without First Win

As each week passes and Tennessee wins again, more people are standing up and taking notice of this team. The Titans' seventh win of the season came against Peyton Manning and his now 3 and 4 Indianapolis Colts on Monday night with a 31-21 decision. Kerry Collins was proficient with his passing (24/37, 193 yards) but failed to throw a TD pass for the second week in a row and again let the running game take care of the scoring. Chris Johnson collected 77 yards and one TD while LenDale White ran in two TD scores on only thirteen rushing yards. White now leads the entire league with 10 rushing TDs. The defense also contributed with two interceptions off Manning passes. Tennessee will get a visit from the Green Bay Packers (4-3) next Sunday afternoon.

Detroit (0-7) and Cincinnati (0-8) continued to ensure they'll both be watching the NFL postseason on TV after losses on Sunday. The Lions actually led the Washington Redskins 10-6 at halftime but couldn't hold on as they fell 25-17. Lions' receiver Calvin Johnson fell a yard short of the first-down marker on fourth down with less than a minute remaining as their final drive was stalled at their own 45-yard line. The Bengals never held a lead in their game against the Houston Texans as they were downed 35-6. Texans' QB Matt Schaub continues to impress after an almost-perfect afternoon where he completed 24 of 28 pass attempts for 280 yards, three TDs and a 144.0 QB rating. The Texans (3-4) have won their last three games and Schaub has thrown six TDs and just two INTs over that span.

The NFC East is a Winning Division in Week 8

All four NFC East teams (Dallas Cowboys, NY Giants, Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles) won their match-ups in this week of action. Here's a recap:

  • Dallas 13, Tampa Bay Bucs 9: The Cowboys ended their two-game losing streak when Tampa Bay QB Jeff Garcia failed to convert on 4th-and-5 from the Dallas 18-yard line with 13 seconds left. One week after throwing three INTs, Tony Romo's backup, Brad Johnson, threw none and completed a TD pass to new receiver Roy Williams. It was Williams' first TD reception in two games since he was acquired from the Lions at the trade deadline.
  • NY Giants 21, Pittsburgh Steelers 14: The Giants outscored the Steelers 12-0 in the fourth quarter en route to a 21-14 victory. Ben Roethlisberger tied his career high by throwing four interceptions and Giants kicker John Carney nailed all four of his FG attempts.
  • Redskins 25, Lions 17: Washington QB Jason Campbell was 23/28 for 328 yards and a TD. He has yet to throw an interception this season. Santana Moss caught Campbells' 50-yard TD pass and finished with 140 receiving yards while Clinton Portis rushed 24 times for 126 yards and kicker Shawn Suisham hit four of five FG attempts.
  • Eagles 27, Falcons 14: Brian Westbrook returned from his rib injury and collected 209 all-purpose yards (167 rushing, 42 receiving) and ran in two TDs. Eagles receiver Kevin Curtis caught three passes for 45 yards in his first game of the season. Donovan McNabb rushed for his first TD since the 2006 season.

NFC East Standings (after Week 8):

1. New York Giants 6-1

2. Washington Redskins 6-2

3. Dallas Cowboys 5-3

4. Philadelphia Eagles 4-3

More than 83,000 Watched Saints Edge Chargers in London, England

In the NFL's second game ever played at Wembley Stadium, New Orleans QB Drew Brees, facing his former team and the QB that replaced him for the first time, passed for 339 yards and three TDs on 30-for-41 passing as the Saints beat the Chargers 37-32. On the other side, Philip Rivers completed 25 of 40 pass attempts for 341 yards and three TDs but was intercepted with just over a minute left, effectively halting the Chargers' comeback attempt. It was an absolute shootout between two all-star QBs looking to prove something. The Saints moved to 4-4 on the season while the Chargers dropped to 3-5.
